I'm gonna give it a try, but if:
1) The kids start fighting and throwing popcorn while they watch their movie downstairs, or
2) My wife wants to learn how to do the remaining two brake discs on her car,
then I'll have to bail.

I've been offline to avoid spoilers until watching F1 Sunday night, so now it's time for a dispatch from the Formula Oppo GT6 Excuses & Recriminations Department: I drove a good 20 laps of practice earlier in the week, set up my car just so , was turning 2:06's... was happy. Then I tried arcade mode races to get a feel for traffic. Realized that with the draft, I was hitting the rev limiter on the straights. Readjusted 5&6 gear to optimize drafting. Got to the point where I was turning 2:06's with the combination of traffic and drafting.

Then came practice: no possibility for drafting. I thought it would be a good idea to put my high gears back, but didn't. Then came quali, and I was locked in.

Then came the race, and despite exiting turn 1 a bit wide and clipping the grass, I thought I was doing decently. Then came turn 2, and somebody who learned well from the Polyphony AI pushed me into the wall from behind.

Tire wear was looking good, but fuel consumption was a bit concerning: 2 stops. I figured I'd have to pit at the end of 11 laps, then switch to mediums since I'd have a shorter stint to the eventual second fuel stop. Then came the voices from the front runners: "Whoa, 2:05 and change.... whoa, 2:04 and change..." (WHAAAT???) Ok, I'm going to keep on going and hope for a mistake up front, lap 8, looking decent.

Then the young With.a.G's downstairs played race stewards and black flagged me to join them for popcorn and Netflix, so I gave up hope for a champagne podium and had a bourbon couch instead.

Thanks Blunion an Fractal for your gracious hosting. Looking forward to being able to have another try at this, maybe with a microphone of my own next time.

hahaha I had a ton of fun! Unfortunately I was force-disqualified by my PS3 and the game froze on me on my 18th lap. I was on racing soft turning 2:05 and 2:06s in first place. Heading to the end my 13th lap and into the 14th, I needed to take a pit stop. Due to the low power output of the RB Junior and high revving nature of the engine the fuel would without a doubt go out first. The guy who wasn't from Oppo and Fractal pitted before me I think, a lap prior. I was 20 seconds ahead too. :( But it was all good. I filled in as race engineer and then the remainder of the race was narrated by a random Japanese fellow in Tokyo.

Looking forward to playing with everybody again. I'll remind everybody about gear adjustments next time.

It's a shame there's no way to practice offline with tire/fuel consumption. I'd never have started on hards.

Yeah. I practiced online in a private room set to friends only and 2 max people allowed in the room earlier in the day and earlier in the week.
